MUAY THAI

Muay Thai, or literally Thai boxing, is a combat sport of Thailand that uses stand-up striking along with various clinching techniques. This discipline is known as the "art of eight limbs" as it is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins.

Master Johnnie

Imagine if every child learned the respect, courtesy, and discipline that martial arts teaches. The world would be a different place.

Even at 67 years old, there's no stopping Master Johnnie, who is also more affectionately known as 'Shi Fu' to his students. He still takes the Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening Muay Thai trainings at Bukit Batok Nature Park for his Hilltop students. Seen by many as a father figure, Master Johnnie has undoubtedly touched many lives and steered countless off the wayward path. He cares deeply about each students' personal development in life; even more so than their technical improvement in the sport.

Wilson Lau

Wilson, an energetic and passionate senior Muay Thai trainer here at Hilltop Academy, has over 10 years of Muay Thai experience. He manages the fight team and has trained numerous fighters to compete locally and internationally in competitions. He believes in pushing people to their fullest potential during training, and instilling confidence in them.

Daniel Chua

Daniel possesses over a decade’s worth of experience as a Muay Thai practitioner. Upheld by his beliefs on how teaching Muay Thai should be like, there will always be new training methods used and joyous laughter in his class. He focuses on defensive technique while helping students build strong fundamentals. A patient giant,  Daniel adapts each Muay Thai training session to suit his students' pace, prioritizing technique.
Known for his friendly personality, Daniel is undoubtedly very popular among our students.

Garrett Koh

Garrett found his love for Muay Thai during his schooling days and has been actively participating in fights and teaching at Hilltop Academy ever since. His fighting style is highly technical and he believes in prioritizing technique when teaching students. As one of the youngest trainers here, he likes to build rapport with the students and make his Muay Thai training sessions fun and enjoyable!

With Benedict’s quick wit, you’ll find yourself laughing hard while training even harder during his Muay Thai classes. His encouraging and lighthearted personality has won the hearts of many students at Hilltop Academy. Benedict checks in with the students diligently and ensures that they are training safely and effectively with the right techniques. He’s an advocate for putting in your 110% during training and getting the best from every single work-out.

A positive and determined senior Muay Thai trainer here at Hilltop Academy, Eugene comes with more than 10 years of Muay Thai experience. Passionate about raising up the next generation in the Muay Thai community, he pours his heart into training and grooming his fighters in preparation for their competitions such as KBX and AMAS. Eugene takes great pride in helping and inspiring others to be better versions of themselves.

The secret of getting ahead is getting started.

With over 150 professional Muay Thai fights clocked in Thailand, Toey is focused on imparting and sharing his knowledge and skill of authentic and traditional techniques. An enthusiastic and passionate Muay Thai trainer, he often checks in with students as their wellbeing is his priority. Despite being the only Thai trainer at Hilltop Academy, language is never a barrier for Toey. He constantly reads up on basic conversational English to further enhance his communication with his students, so don't hesitate to approach him for any constructive feedback!

Chan Huan Kai

Known for his sniper jabs and sharp short-range punches, Kai is not only proficient in training advanced Muay Thai fighters, but is able to customize his training to suit first-timers and beginners as well. Sessions with Kai are always fun and effective, allowing newcomers to not feel overwhelmed by the tough training. To Kai, Muay Thai is more than just a fighting sport; Muay Thai teaches people to have self-discipline and allows one to gain more self-confidence.

You wouldn’t be able to tell that Eric’s our youngest Muay Thai trainer here at Hilltop Academy. With his professional attitude, he will drill you with a variety of functional Muay Thai combinations until you commit them to memory. Eric focuses on speed and power, forcing you to push your boundaries and improve each time you train with him. His witty humour, however, will have you enjoying your time here to the fullest even while sweating buckets.

Yi Hui, a tenacious individual, stays determined despite difficulties and remains disciplined in achieving his goals at all times. He believes in hustling and grinding for what you’re passionate about. Other than being enthusiastic in sharing his knowledge and experience in Muay Thai, Yi Hui also finds joy in passing on running tips to his students!
